821 is First Out Engine for the week!

Thursday, April 7, 2016   Reserve Engine 821 is first out engine for the week while 822 is OOS for maintenance. 821 has been around since the 1990's and still runs like a champ. So if you see 821 around campus this week, you're not seeing things! 



Residential Structure Fire in First Due

Thursday, March 31, 2016 1320hrs  Around 1320hrs the tones were dropped for District 8 to respond to the 1700 block of Brick Mill Rd reference a residential structure fire. Dispatch had alerted incoming units that it would be a detached garage on fire. 800 (Riewestahl) arrived on scene and advised it would be a working garage fire to find a detached garage with two vehicles inside with one vehicle being involved and fire coming out of the AB corner from the truck below. Units from Buies Creek, Coats, and Erwin assisted with fire attack and had the fire under control in about twenty minutes. Engine 842 (3rd due) caught the hydrant at Country Meadow Ln. and extended 1000ft. of 5" supply line to Engine 822 and Engine 643. Crews also checked the adjacent house to see if the fire had extended to the structure, which turned out it did not. Crews remained on scene until about 1600hrs to assist the Harnett County Fire Marshall's Office.  Thank you to all the members who responded as well as all of the agencies who assisted.

BCFD 3rd Annual Fishing Tournament

Thursday, March 24, 2016  Buies Creek Fire Department is hosting it's annual fishing tournament this summer. The 3rd annual event is scheduled to take place June 4th and 5th 2016 and 100% of the proceeds raised will benefit the North Carolina Fallen Fire Fighters Foundation. More information and details about the tournament are posted below. We hope to see you this year at this tournament for a great cause!

National Severe Weather Week

Wednesday, March 9, 2016   March 7-11 is designated as National Severe Weather Week. Harnett County Emergency Services have implemented the "Rapid Notify Citizen Emergency Telephone Notifications System" to better serve the public in times of emergencies. The system is designated to alert the general public of Amber Alerts, Silver Alerts, and other pertinent emergency information. Citizens can register for the system by going to http://www.harnett.org and click on the " I Want To" and select "Register for Emergency Notifications" to register either a cell phone or home phone. If you have any questions about the system or have trouble signing up, feel free to call 910-893-7580 to receive assistance during registration. 



Condolences extended to the Livesay Family

Saturday, March 5, 2016  The members of Buies Creek Fire Department would like to extend their condolences to the Livesay family. We regret to announce the passing of Mrs. Ruth Waddell, Mother of Buies Creek Member Deborah Livesay. Mrs. Waddell is also the Grandmother of former members, Ashley and Heather Livesay. Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time of loss. Services will be Monday at 2:00 PM. Arrangement details and obituary are included in the following link.




Condolences extended to the Pope family

Sunday, February 28, 2016  The members of Buies Creek Fire Department would like to extend their sincere condolences to the Pope family. Brian and his family lost their beloved grandfather today, who was an Active Member, Firefighter, Board Member, and Charter Member of the Bentonville Fire Department in Johnston County. Services will be held for his grandfather at the following times and locations:


Monday February 29th
West and Dunn Funeral Home of Newton Grove
Services are 6:00pm until 8:00pm


Tuesday March 1st
Mill Creek Church of Bentonville
Services will start at 2:00pm



Motor Vehicle Accident

Tuesday, February 23, 2016  Around 0900hrs, District 8 was alerted to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Harmon Rd, and US 421. 822 found a three car mva, with the roadway blocked. Crews positioned 822 for a safe work area and remained on scene until NCSHP arrived. District 8 units were released, and returned to service before 1000hrs. Units on Scene: 822, 851, 862 Harnett County Ems, HCSO, and NCSHP.



Motor Vehicle Accident on 421

Monday, February 22, 2016  Around 0900hrs. the tones were dropped for District 8 to respond to Leslie Campbell Ave. reference to a two car motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival, units found the correct address of the MVA to be on 421 N. with two tractor trailers being involved. 822 and 881's crew found a diesel leak coming from one of the fuel tanks on the tractor trailer. 822 and 881's crew mitigated the diesel fuel leak by using various hazmat techniques and ensured that the fuel was contained to the roadway. Thankfully, there were only minor injuries sustained during the MVA. District 8 units remained on scene until the towing company removed the tractor trailers. All District 8 units returned to service around noon.
